Are Vein Ablations a good fit for your unique needs?
Learn more below.
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a condition that occurs when veins in the legs become damaged and can no longer manage blood flow as effectively as they should. One-way valves that normally move blood towards the heart become weakened and blood may back up and pool in the legs as a result. Over time, CVI can lead to increased pressure in the leg veins and result in inflammation, leg ulcers, and pain. If you are one of the more than 25 million American adults currently living with CVI, it’s essential to be proactive in addressing the underlying cause(s) of the condition to regain your quality of life and prevent more serious complications from arising. The experienced team of pain management specialists at Resolve Pain can help.
Vein ablation is a cutting-edge CVI treatment that uses radiofrequency heat energy to permanently close weakened veins and reroute blood flow to healthy blood vessels. It can help in the resolution of pain and discomfort with minimal downtime.
At Resolve Pain in West Orange and Brick, New Jersey, our leading team of pain management doctors specializes in the treatment of CVI and other common vein issues, such as varicose veins, with vein ablation. To learn more and book your initial consultation, contact our clinic directly today!
What Is Vein Ablation?
Vein ablation, also known as endovenous radiofrequency (RF) ablation, is a minimally invasive procedure that can be used to address chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins in the legs. Weakened or damaged veins are precisely targeted with radiofrequency heat energy that permanently seals them off and automatically reroutes blood to healthier blood vessels. The benefits of vein ablation include pain and symptom relief as well as improved circulation. The procedure has high success rates of up to 97% with minimal downtime required.
How It Works
Vein ablation uses targeted radiofrequency energy to permanently close one or more veins. A small incision is made and a fiber is inserted directly into the affected vein using ultrasound guidance. During treatment, this fiber emits radiofrequency heat energy that precisely and irreversibly shuts the vein down.
Conditions Treated
Vein ablation can be used to effectively treat a variety of vein issues and conditions including chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and varicose veins. What To Expect From Treatment
Vein ablation is a minimally invasive treatment that is performed on-site at Resolve Pain’s state-of-the-art clinic. Patients are sedated during the procedure and local anesthesia is used to ensure a comfortable experience. Your Resolve doctor will make a small incision in the skin and locate the affected vein using ultrasound guidance. A fine fiber will be inserted into the vein through a catheter (thin tube) and heat energy will be used to permanently seal off the vein. A vein ablation procedure takes about one hour to complete.
Results And Recovery
It usually takes a few days to recover after a vein ablation procedure, during which time you will need to rest, elevate the leg, and keep the incision dry. Over-the-counter pain medications may be recommended to minimize pain and discomfort. Walking is encouraged to speed recovery and most patients can resume work and all of their normal activities within a week after undergoing vein ablation.
Blood circulation typically improves immediately following a vein ablation treatment. The majority of patients find that the procedure effectively relieves venous insufficiency and varicose veins. In some cases, the personalized vein treatment plan our specialists develop for you may also include a combination of other complementary techniques and therapies.
